Seventh — The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £438,---876, the mortality'experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth— The receipts from interest and rents were £916,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for th« claims by £138,992. Nimth— The expenses of Management were only 9.S per cent, of the total receipts, Tenth — The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.9 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summar ised as under — It has issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717* It ha* paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,---000,000 in satisfaction of death anu matured claims. It has divided among the members < ash bonuses aggregating over £4 ? 000,000, yielding rewrsionary additions of over £8,000,000.
