(Contributed.) The members and congregation of the Primitive Methodist Church held a social gathering in the Church on Tuesday evening, the 28th inst., to hear the financial statement in connection with their late Bazaar, when a large number attended. MrEaine, the Minister, took the chair, and after the usual opening by singing and prayer, the chairman called upon Mr Robert McLean, the station steward, to read the report, which he did in a very effective manner, and after he had announced the different of income and expenditure and gave the net balance in the Treasurer's hands of £101 Is 6d, he took the people by surprise, for it far exceeded the amount anticipated. The total income amounted to £125 14s 9d, including £16 17s 6d donations kindly given by practical sympathisers outside the Church. The ( . p nditure was £24 18s 3d, inclusive of £19 14s 3d paid for materials for making up goods for the Bazaar. Messrs Gower, McLean and Gibson then spoke of the noble manner in which all the friends had worked to bring about such a splendid result, and especially the energetic manner Mr John Walsh and Mrs Walsh, the secretary, had exerted themselves, also the President, Mrs Gibson, and all the ladies who had taken any part in this great undertaking, to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded, by acclamation, also to the friends, and sympathisers for their liberal support. Mr C. Honore. and Mr Edmund Osborne gave a few reminecences of the hard struggle through which the trustees had passed on account of the heavy debt of £400 which had rested on the Church, and its being now brought down to the small sum of £50 made;them feel grateful for the position in which *he Church was placed at the present time. A vote of thanks waß*sjiveh to Mr Eaine for presiding over the meeting and then the friends one and all were invited to a coffee supper which seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all who partook. After the singing of the doxology the Benediction was'pronounced, and all went to their homes with glad hearts for the success which had been achieved. The piano which was used at the Bazaar was kindly lent by Mrs Welsh.
