Cheaper Electric Force.

The Paris correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald writes: — "At the extraordinary meeting of electricians from every part of Europe and the United States, to hear the promised statement by M. de Meritans concerning his recent discovery, that investigator proved that with the aid of his system, light and force can be produced at will with the old volta pile, with no more outlay than with the difficult dynamos of recent days, thus placing the supply of electric lighting and force within the grasp of every household ; a cheap and easy electric system, which can be used for the working < f every sort of domestic machinery, including that of rocking a cradle or working a sewing machine. Th.^ exposition of his system by M, de Meritans was regarded by the learned assembly as proving that he has achieved a veritable industrial revolution."
