Just fancy an out of the way place like this having two different cliques? Is it not rather ridiculous ? Church service was held here last Sunday evening. Archdeacon Fancourt conducting the service. • He also held services both at Kereru and Motua during the day. A most __ energetic parson you will think. We want a church very badly here just now as the schoolroom, the only available place is just a liftle too small. But I suppose these things will come in due course, The Boad Board decided to do something to the Eiver Boad on ' Saturday. The creek, source of all trouble, has been behaving itself very well lately, which state is very much appreciated by every one concerned. There are several schemes talked of by bush engineers who all think they do Mow what should be done. So they can all have a go in when the tenders are invited by the Board. There are a great many natives about here at present. The centre of attraction is a real prophet, who, according to report, can perform miracles which have never before been beaten, not even in Scripture. It seems a pity that such an intelligent race of people can be gulled by an old imposter like him; who, from what I can learn, only goes to places where he thinks he can get plenty to eat and drink on the cheap. One does'nt wonder at the Maori race becoming gradually less every year when such gatherings are allowed amongst them. The school at Moutoa, I beKeve, is about to be opened once more, under the tuition of Miss Mason. I notice several new scholars attending our own school, which by the way, will soon need an addition to it,
