Manawatu County Council.

Ovebsrkrs Report. Between Awahuri & Feilding the drain has been cleared out and gorge grubbed up, which was complained of by Mr Gieson. Between Sandon and the Bangitikei Bridge there have been two culverts taken out and filled up. Between Sanson and Cainpbelltown station there is a bridge that needs a new stringer and cap. I have ordered the same and will put it in as soon as it is delivered. Want about 5000 feet of timber to have on hand for Sandon, Campbelltown and County and district roads. Mr Boyle has not started his metalling contract on Foxton- Sandon road yet, but will be starting in about a week from now. W. Ludlow and Coyle have not started to deliver metal on County roads yet. The hedge along the road between Carnarvon Junction and Foxton will soon be completed. Mr Robinson, of Foxton, should have notice to clear the hedge along this line. Between Foxton-Sandon road and Oroua Bridge there are two threehorse drays at work soiling the road in the sandy places. I have a man to put on this length to-morrow. Sandon Riding— There has been a bridge repaired on Speedy's Line, and the approach to the bridge in the Township of Sanson which was washed away by the flood, has- been made up. Mount Stewart Riding — J. Thompson has started his metalling contract on the Mount Stewart -Halcombe line. I have not been able to carry out the works on the Cemetery and Lee's Lines yet, but will see to it during the present month. Waitohi Riding — The bridge' near Buchanan's house on Hammond's Line, there have been two new stringers put in it, also culvert repaired, and a man is now on trimming up the cuttings on Banks-Waitohi Line. Coker has completed his metalling contract on the Rosina Line, and has made a very good job of the same. Parts of the River Bank Line have been node up which was washed away byt£4 flood, also the metal part trimmed, up. A man should be put on to make the cutting good on the continuation of Campion's to the river, no that the contractor for mt tailing

the Foxton- Sandon road may be able to get up with his metal. Kawakawa Riding -Parts of the Taikorea Lino have been trimmed up. Awahou Riding — There has been nothing done in this Riding during the month, and as the man that has been stopped working for 3 months I think it would be wise to start him again or some one else before the winter sets in.
