INCBEASE OF £150,000 FOR THE YEAR. HANDSOME SURPLUS OF £100,000. Wellington. The accounts for the year are not completed, full reports of the expenditure being not yet to hand. . The revenue for the year shows an increase of £150,000 as compared with that of the previous year ; but so far ascertained, the expenditure is heavier than anticipated, The year's revenue was : — Customs, £1,527,139; stamps, £680,991 ; Property Tax, £587,869; beer duty, £58,086 ; railways, £1,128,464 ; registration fees, £41,486; marine, £20,571 ; miscellaneous, £46,811 ; territorial, £185,824 ; total— £B,99l, 681, as compared with the original estimate, - £8,848,600, and-the revised estimate of £8,962,248. dition to the above, the Land Fund realised £168,702, the original estimate being £96,600, and the revised £164,070. The items of expenditure are not yet complete. The actual surplus for the year will be about £100,000. The expenditure returns will not be available till the end of the week, but sufficient is known to warrant the belief that the surplus will reach three figures. This is exclusive of a surplus in the Land Fund, which will just about balance the previous deficit.
