A tradesman, who had long dunned Mr. HFox for a note of three hundred guineas, Bound him one day counting gold, and demanded payment of his long-due note. H> " I cannot pay you now," said Fox ; " 1 [owe this money to Sheridan ; it is a debt of f honour. If an accident should happen to : me, he has nothing to show to maintain hU claim.". n f " Then," said the creditor, •• I change my debt into a debt of honour," and tore the note in piecesN "< - Fox thanked the man for his confidence, and paid him, say.'ng. " his debt was of older standing and Sljeii'tan must wait."
