The outcome of all the arrangements during the past period since the general election are now known. Sir Harry Atkinson has retired from active polities and become Speaker of the Legislative Council. Six old supporters of the late government receive the Legislative Council pension, bar one, who, as a resident of Wellington receives no honoraruim. The Hon. Mr Ballance will have a government composed of members as we had foretold, and he succeeded in gettiug his nominee, Major Stewardelected Speaker of the House of; Representatives. The "in," being outs" and the " outs "being " ins " the question arises, what will ihe country gain ? All the talk at the elections will now have to be softened to enable the New Ministry to carry on, and this session will see no alteration in the change of taxation.
