« Messrs Murray, Roberts & Co have favoured us with a copy, through Messrs McMillan Rhodes & C •., of a special memorandum received from their London Brokers, dated 27th November 1890:— Hemp— During the past fortnight our market has met with fluctuations partly owing to the action of the Foreign Syndicate, who had previously sent in orders to purchase, which enhanced the market, but these having been withdrawn, prices have given way. The total quantities catalogued on the 19th and 26th inst, of all descriptions, comprise 4297 bales, of which 1326 bales sold. New Zealand— Buyers were very indisposed to operate on the 19th inst, owing to orders having been previously fulfilled, and prices gave way £8 to £i per ton. Yesterday, however, with the chief holders being firm, a slightly better tone prevailed, and prices were par to an occasional
