♦ '- The first fatal accidnit in the colony resulting from electric lighting is reported frcm the new Australian Company's works at Richmond, and the circumstances point to recklessness on the part of the victim. The engineer in charge was engaged in switching the current from ono dynamo to the other, in order to step and oil one machine. Pattison the electrician, was standing iv front of the switchboard of tho second machine, and tho engineer after changing switches saw Patterson grasping the switches with both hands and unable to let go. The current was immediately stopped, when Pattison fell down, and he expired in five minu'e.. Deceased received the full current at a power of .00 volts, and his fingers were almost charred off the body, which was blackened and shrivelled and presented a terrible sight. — Press Association.
