The Foxton Racing Club.
DicawTK the unfair action of the Wellington Racing Club having decided to bold a race meeting oo the day the Foxton .Racing Club have for so many }'earsheld their Summer Meeting, the Club havo adhered to the 22nd of January, and have issued their programme. In this we entirely hold with them, as we believe, if for no other reason, all who are interested in racing on this coast will as-ist the Club by all means in their power to make the meeting a success as a protest against the action of the Wellington Club. However the Foston Bacuig Club are helping themselves air! doing their level best to make the meeting a thorough success. They meet owners in a most liberal manner, making none of the usual discounts from th » nominal value of the stakes. They require no qualification fee. They provide a programme with seveu events and give away £820. The highest stake for tho' Club is £100 Handicap, and the next £00 for the Stewards' St.iki.-s Handicap. We understand that the distances to be run are shorter than usua 1 , and the first race is a Flying Stakes Handicap. I The course has had a great deal of attention and is in first class order, with a fine sward. Tho Committee aro paying every attention to the details ef the meeting, so visitors will miss nothing from the past, but will probably notice many improvements, j Owners will be pleased t:> notice , that during the absence of Mr An- . diews, the Club has been fortunate j in securing the assistance of Mr John [ 11 Russell, as honorary secretary, and his p-ist services are a guarantee that every effort on his part to give satisfaction will be made. Nominations must be made by the 22nd December, uud weights will be der-liiivfl on the ':>rd January. I - --
