« > 'Before E. S. Thynne, Esqr., J.P.) MO'DAV. George Edward Johnson was charged by the Constable with having been drunk at Totara, "Wirokino, on Sunday. The prisoner pleaded guilty. He was fined 5s or twenty- four hours imprisonment. George Edward Johnson was also charged by John Daries with having used threatening language to him on Sunday last. John Davies deposed to the language used, and asked that the defendant should find sureties for the peace He was acting most violently through the effects of drink and had assaulted the complainant. Albert Howe and Constable Tapp gave corroborative evidence. The Bench ordered that the defendant find sureties, himself in £10, and two sureties in £5 each, to keep \ the peace to all Her Majesly's subjects for the space of six. mouths. Charles Richard Wiley was charged j with a violent assault on Uharlea ! Brown on Sunday evening. ; ; Constable Tapp deposed to having I been informed of a disturbance in j the street and had found the man I Brown down, and the prisoner, ; stripped, standing over him. The ; i man assaulted was too ill to appear, ■ and a remand was granted to Wednesday.
