Horowhenua County Council.
The ordinary meeting of the ab ove was held in the Council Chambers, Otaki, on Saturday the 13th mat Present — Crs Best, Siracox, Eager, Andrews, Davies, and Kebbell (Chairman). After confirmation of minutes the Chairman asked for a suspension of the standing orders ai:d moved, That this Council do now a journ for an hour out of respect to the memory of the late Councillor Thomson, and that the Chairman be instructed to write to MrsThomnon, conveying the sympathy of the Council in her sad bereavement. — Carried. On the Council resuming the inward and outward com-apondence was read and the following resolutions were passed : - That tendei-3 be cal'ed, to be in by next meeting, for the formation of culverts and bridges on the County road, from Carmedy's formation towardi Shannon, as far as peg 45 on the plan now before the Council, and initialled by the Chairman. That the report of the Waikawa Pound Committee be adopted. That this Council accepts the ofler of Mrs Amie Botting for compensation for road purposes as embodied in agreement. Tbat the ranger be instructed to h*ve the portion of road referred to in Mr Stuckley's letter metalled. That Cr Navies be authorised to arrange with owners of bush land adjoinitg the Heatherlea road near [ Porotawhao, to have the same felled, with power to act. Thnt with a view of securing the services of the present Clerk of the Council it ia desirab eto enter into
an agreement with him for a period ot three years at .such sa ary and remuneration hs nt present, agre ••• meat to date from, l>t Oc.ober, 1890.
