Unearned Increment.
♦ A few wpplcs ago at the Mart, Tolmi house Yard London Mr Bnusfield diaposod of a '' King's Freehold Share" in the New Eiver Com pmj for the sum of £95,100, although two and a half centuvips ago the same share fetched less than £300, calculating the yalue of monf-y at the time at the preposterously low > ate of 5 per cent. The King's Shares are thirty six in number, and they origina'ly belonged to Jame3 1. His son, the Royal Martyr, disposed of them for an annuity of £500, which is still paid, thoutrh the capital vahie of die stock has increased to something like three millions and a-ha f sterling. Wea<e told that t\ie price realised is less than was expected ; but when we consider the confiscating tendencies of the tinS perhaps the niggarclli ness of the bidders i 3 undsrstanJable.
