Something like a Certificate.
■* We (N. Z. Times) have been pliown an interesting document which arrived in this city l»y a recent mail—viz., a Chinese marriage certificate. One of it striking features is its size, as it mf azures just 41 1 Bin by lft Bin, and not le.-s remarkable are i s col mrs, as the nJe on which the information appears is of a rich ciimsou, while it* back is ot an equally vivid green. His ruled off into co'umns by broad lines of gold, and round the whole is a floral border, also of gold. The entries upon it in Indian ink are in characters fit l^ast an inch square. DouUlets we may learn much from the dwellers in the Flowery Land, and such a crrfcificate as we have des f eribed is indeed a thing of beauty and a joy for ever. Framed, it would form a handsome mnra' decoration for any home, but we do not think that a change from the bad and uniuteresting I 1 oking forms now in vogue am ngst us to one of such formidable dimensions as are above given wou'd be like to find favor, at all events in professional circles.
