A Horticultural and Poultry Society.

+ From the remarks made at the only show that we have had in this town, it Was generally agi'eod that there sliould be a society to stimulate the interest in gardening and poultry breeding From our knowledge of the d\ .triet we feel sure some capital shows could be made, but everything wants a start. "\Ye take this opportunity "f asking our readers to send us word whether thej' would be willing to join such a society providing the subscription was not mor. than ten shillings a year. If they will do this, we undertake, suppising sufficient interest is displayed, to co'ivene a meeting, at which all matters connected with the establishment of a Society shall be settled; such as its objocts, oflice bearers' and amount of snbsciption. Wc have hefore us th*. rules and regulations of just such asociety as we need, aud urge promptness in getting to work, as the date for a Spring show is usually at the end ot November. We reckon that every one would come undet the denomination of '• Amat Q ur." j A spring show should allow of such flowers as Auriculas, Ba'sams, Haleolaria, Fuschia. Geranuim Heaths, Pelargoniums, Primulas, to be o .Inbited. Also there would be a large number of cut flowers to show, such as, in uddition to those above mentioned, Gladioas, Ixia, Pansy, Larkspur, Peony. Ro_es, Stock, Sweetwilliam, and Verheua ; For fruit we mav expect Cherries, Gooseberries. Raspberries, and Straw berries. And in vegetables there sbould be a ! ofc of entries, as ..parngus Beans, Cabbages, Carrots, Cauliflower., Lettuce, Onions, Peas, Potatoes, Rhubarb, and Turnips I would be in. j "We believe a groat interest would ! bo taken in the show, and that the ; charge 'or admission would find al. ', mos- enough to cover expenses and ' prizes. | Whatever is to be done, must be ! done early, so send in your acceptI ances sharp.
