PARLIAMENT.
TUESDAY, JULY 15. The debate on the motion to go into Committee of Supply was resumed by Mr Mcarthur, and after Messrs Brown, Kelly, Ross, and Taiwhanga had spoken the Pogt-master-General replied. The motion for going into Committee of Supply was carried on the voices. The Estimates. Colonial Sec.-atary'a Department. — Colo" nial Secretary's Office, £1755. Mr Monk moved, " That the vote be reduced by £1, as an instruction to the Government that while recognising with satisfaction the decreases already effected in the public expenditure, this committee is of opinion that a further reduction in the estimates of at least £50,000 can be made without being injurious to the interests of the colony." After a further amendment, moved by Mr Ballance, was disposed off, the Government accepted Mr Monk's, and it was carried on division by 43 to 7. Tho House rose at 2.20 a.m.
