Attempt to Rob the Kaiwarra Post Office.
♦ A.t attempt was made during Pun* day night to rob tbe Post Office at Kaiwarra, which is connected with Mr W. Cook's store. The d -or of the shop was forced open, and a most de* termin6cT effort made to break opi j n the safe belonging to the Postal Department, which was situated in a small office attached to the shop The safe contained a consideiable sum of money and other valuable property at the time, aud fortunately resisted the implement used by the wou d-be thieves. The brass pate protecting the keyhole was liroken off, but other than this the safe was not damaged. None of Mr Cook's goods were touched, from which frtct it would sei'm evident that thieves were aware that the sa'e was worth the venture. The police have the matter iv hand, and are inclined to that it is the work of some larrikins: This is the fourth or fifth post office that has bnen eatored within the last twelve months, but in the previous cases the efforts have been with more i success. — Post.
