SEPARATION.
A Niw Board Proposed. Mr Lucia then explained,' at some length, the cause whioh bad led up to the necessity of the Pohangina District separating from the Kiwitea Boad Board, and the creation of the proposed Pohangina Boad Board. The members of the former body had recognised that the distriots had now become too extensive and important to be governed by one body, and had mutually agreed to assist in the separation-movement. Ab a Boad District of their own they would be able to borrow the £3000 loan, whereas if they remained as a part of the Kiwitea Distriot they would only obtain the loan in " dribs and drabs ;" the Kiwitea Boad District being to large, and in need of so many works, had arranged to borrow a greater sum than the law allowed, and consequently they would only obtain a pro rata portion of the whole sum proposed to bo borrowed by the Board. The meeting was unanimously in favour of the separation-movement, and all present Bigned the petition.
