The Fate of Headmaster.
; lua late numbrr of the Qtwry I Daily Times, *• Civis " in Passing Noies, says :— The fa^e of 27 headmaster in Seven New Zealand High
Schools, as set fovfch in the following " bi'l of immortality," reprinted f; om a 1 New Zealand paper by the Pa I Ma.! For my part, I don't read it that way at all. There is not a siugle case of rolnntaiy resignation observe. A New Zealand headmaster never retires except at the point of the bayonet or in the course of nature. What is the 1 inference! 1 This, I shoujd. .saythat a New ZWainel feead master has a particularly good thing &## sticks* to it wiih singulvr tenacicy, Mmkyou I stop short of affirming ttiatf such is the fact ; lin reply point out that it is legitimate inference from this " tragical and alarming set <>i statistics. ■ ■•« In., ffre Pall Mall's view a New Zealand head master's engagement like .that of a Eoinau Emperor, is usually terminated by as3asiaation. But, according to the showing of his own figuivs, it isnevei* terminated by the will ef the head master himself. So the billet can't be such a bad one after a'l.
