Justices Court.
Thursday, 20th February. (Before J. W. Gower, andT. Wilson, J. P'fl). Criminal. Francis Gay was charged with the following offenc*. Mr Bay appeared for the complainant. That the said Francis (iay on the 18th February did threaten the said Jane Cray in the words and to the effect following "If I filnd you here when 1 come back I'll put you outside and murder you." And the complainant therefoie prayed that sufficient sureties to keep the peace should be found. On the charge being read the defendant offered uo objection to be ; ng bo ordered to find sureties The Bench ordered that the aaid Francis Gay be bound over in the sum of £25 for himself, and two sureties in £10 etch, to seep the peace towards Jane Gay for three months. The costs of Court were 15s, solicitor's fee 2ls. Francis Gay was also charged by Jane Gay that he did on or about the 21st day of January at Foxton assault acd beat the informant by seizing her by the throat nearly throttling her, and knocking her down. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. Mr E^y applied that judgment Se held ever. .-.,,, The Bench inflicted' a fine of 20s and costs 7s, solicitor's fee 21s, or in default seven day's imprisonment in Wanganai gaol with hard labor. - Gay informed against himself that he had I>y excessive drinking of liquor wasted <aod lessened his estate and genet ally injure* his health, and therefore prayed thrt'&n order might bemadt forbidding any licensed person to sell to him. any liquor for th«r : apace «f. oner year.
