KUDARZ.

» In a f.-w days this clever conjuror will appear in Foxton. At the beginning of the week he appeared a

Otaki, and had an over flowing house. The Evening Post thus ref«rs to a representation he gave in Wellington a short time ago:— Robert Kudarz, a conjuror whoso reputation stands high in the colony, opened a season of three nights afc the Theatre Royal on Saturday nighfc. There was a good downstairs housej and the entertainer was accorded a very flattering welcome on making hi. appearance. The programme comprised a good variety of tricks with apparatus, cards, kc, and others in which sleight-of-hand was the one condition of success. These were without ex- 1 ception very neatly and dexterously performed, and the Audience testified by their applause their wonderment and pleasure. Some of the tricks were new, and, speculation as to how they "were managed was audibly rife at the completion of each. .The. feature. of the first part of the performance was "The Vanishing Lady." In this a lady takes her Beat in ih© middle of thestkge, and Kudarz covers jhor with a- mantle. On this being withdrawn immediately < afterwards; the chair is discorered empty, the occupant having : disappear ad. '" This trick was very effectively performed, and excited loud- applause... Ip. the second part the most _ notable, illusions were "The Flying Birdcage," the dictionary trick, ami " The Mystery of She." Perhaps the diotonary trick was the most mysterious item in the whole programme. The "She" illusion, which is really another version of " The Vanishing Lady," was surrounded, by all the glamour of the old witchcraft appearances, including smoke and incantations, and some of the young folks were very awe-struck at the apparition. The same programme will be repeated to-night. Parents who wish to give their young folks a treat cannot do better than take them to see Kudarz.
