We drew attention to the sma'l weights shown in beef at the Cnristchurch markets, were cattle obtained high prices, and were light weights. In case our readers might fancy that we had selected ar>y particular sale, we reproduce an estimate made from the very latest sale before Christmas, in which natura'ly the growers did their best to bring forward the primest of their stock. Our contemporary the Lyttleton Times reports: «As might have have been expected, the Bale of beef was a. very ! heavy one, and the quality ropre I sented was fully up to the requirement! for Christmas. Mr 8. Garforth and J. Ferguson "wore t> the fore with a supp'y which did them every credit Among these were some of the prize beasts at both the Christchurch and Dunedin Shows, they having beeen brought back here from southern show, where their quality was not appreciated. They sold at prices ranging from ten pounds to £12 ss, or from 20s to- 21s to per 100 lb.
