THE FANCY FAIR.

0 The December fair is finished, having closed on Friday night, with all the stalls cleared out. The promoters may rest satisfied with the result of their labours, as a total sum of £32 was obtained. We cannot compare the takings, as the stalls were neither so Humorous, or so valuably stocked, but; in the number who attended, and the relative value of the goods for sale, we feel assured that the last ha 3 equalled the first. We ar V glad to notice that steps were taken during the' fair to secure the assistance of the ladies towards holding another one, early in the New Year. The thanks of the parishioners are most certainly due to the stall holders who devoted two days attendance to such good purpose. We also believe that Mr McLennan's valuable assistance met with due recognition, and Mr Sherrin would have felt satisfied, had he heard the universal verdict of approval passed on his exhibits from Mr McLennan's garden. Mr Bay, the honarary secretary did good service, in fact the most of the work was placed upo i him, and he did it with energy and an endless supply of good nature. Mr Nixon the honarary treasurer, looked after the cash, and will soon publish his balance sheet, but beyond his polite attention to one and all, did not do. much more. The side shows promised were more noticeable for their absence, but the sub -committee, on whom too much reliance had been placed, was answerable for this. On Friday night Mr A. Fraser showed h : s Magic Lantern in one of the. side rooms, and by his kindness, ad ded dollars to the general fund. The exhibitors of vegetables &c very kindly gave their exhibits for the cause, and they will be .gratified^ to learn that the Committee realised twenty six shillings by thoir sale. Thus has ended the second effort of the xmrishoners of All Saint's Chureh'to help themselves, and has resulted in proving the truth of tho old adage, and if continued interest is kept up, must result in their obI taming all they wish for.
