FOLEY'S ENTERTAINMENT.
-«> Mr Jolm W. D. ,^oley gave oa 7 Saturday andM<tt##X£ i gk& At Public Mall,-Mi very amurine entertainment entitled "Funny FolW We thiak this artist hardly does himself sufficient justice in adyerrising his s''ovr, as the performance is iajt away fr-m what one is Ird to believe by the notices he inserts. His 'ightning changes of costume are well worth seeing, one moment appearing on the stage in evening dress as John Fofey, tie next moment disappearing a d re*ppeanagas a bride! It is hard to eingle outany particular instance where all ; were good, but his Irish characters | wore very comical, '»he doctor* assistant created mnch fun, especialy where be accused the patient of ha' ing eaten a whole horse, because under the led there was only the saddle and bridle left I The Irish lady's experiences of travelling were, given with much point, and her care . of t'«e infant in her arms fetched the mother's presort. There is no doubt but t' at the audience enjoyed a genuine evening's fnn, laughter loud and long breaking out every now and then. The transformations, are • not only quickly done but are splendid disguises. Mr Foley is also a musician of no mean order, as he manages to play tun s on » number of comical musical instru* mente. The accompa lyment to " Home c weet Home " on a row of bottles was not only clever but pretty and to enthusiastic encores ho had to give two other items ) laying " wait til the clouds roll by" on a violin composed out of a cigar box, first in the orthodox style, then with the violin topsyturvy, and again with tl • bow heM be** ten his kneei and the violin moved along it, was a clever performance. We have, not space t • mention all his insruments, but one most amusing, was a tune whistled with the assistance of a pair of belldwi \ to his lips. The ventriloquist was neatly done, and pleased every one. The show is one of the best we hay% * senform nya day here, and do- y serves to be well patronised as it is, amusing without vulgarity. ,We understand that Afr Foley will giv* an entre change of programme next Saturday and Monday. We advise all to roll up.
