OROUA BRIDGE ROAD.
So few nothing has been do'^ the Manawatu •• ounty £,nnc^ Q this road in r. condition jit for *mffic, and it iiall urgently retires attention. The Chairman oi: the Council and the overseer visited the lo«ality about a fortnight ago, bu of course merely looking at the road or at what should be the road, was of little service, and the residents arc now anxiously waiting action in the matter It seems a rank inju tioe that a locality fironi which so large a sum has been taken for rates during past years should hay« had no attention paid to its requimnents, and that even vow no special effort is mad« to meet the wants of the settlers. The Council should take immediate steps to carry out work wMch has been delayed too long, "and when once the road has bee > coustrueted it should make proper arra gements for keeping it in repair. We may point out again that this road is the on'y route by which a considerable number of settlers can conveniently reach a market. For instance when the Louyburn Works are in wor ing order, settlers in that locality, though only a few miles from Longburn will have to travel their ttock all the way round by Awahuri.—M. Times :
