Foxton Borough Council.
A special meeting of «he Borough Council was held' at the Library buildings on Monday Bth July at 6.30 p.m. Present—The Mayor, and Crs McMillan, Williams, Cook, Nye and Furrie. The meeting "was convened to consider the report presented to tbe Co mcil at the last meeting, on the spread of goise on the Borough roads. The Mayor said the report sent in was a very fair one, and all would see the necessity of passing some resolution .to deal with the matter. By the v et it was imperative that one months' notice was to be given. l but that was all that was required. He thought that notices sh- uld be served oh all offenders to remove the gorae eight feet where it encroached on the roads. Cr Cook thought the Council might show a little leniency in the matter and make it three mdiiths instead of one.. Of ctfarse ? it - jras anuisance and a greaVraany were liable, but it would give those >iable a little more time, to have their respective properties seen to. ('r Nye said he did not think they could make it three months * i y the Act, in this the Mayor coincided* After a lengthy discußwon it jraw proposed by the Mayor, and-se-conded by Cr Nye— " That notice be given in accordance with the Public Works Act, 1882, to every occupier or owner who has allowed g rse to spread from Jheir fences upon the adjoining road. '- Carried. It was propoaedx by the Mayor and seconded by- -Cr McMillan— " That part clause' 16, Publio Works Act, 1882, relating to the power of the Borough Council to deal with. the extermination of gorse from roads be printed upon each notice served to offenders " Crried, The Council then adjourned. ■-
