THE RINK.
"10 Mr Hillary opened the rinking season on Wednesday/ and the Hi was very fairly filled in the evening. A large number of ladies'and gentle men took advantage of the rinking, not c to go on the skates, but to whisper sweet nonsense to their partners on the stage, and from appearances these had more fun than those, who. were measuring miles over the floor. Still the real rinkists seemedftto be thoroughly enjoying themselves, judg* ing by the number of tumbles they had, even the most experienced could not refrain from that portion of the fun. One young lady making her first essay offered an instance of undaunted pluck, in keeping, or really in attempting to keep her feet. The j position assumed by different skat ra ' when out of the vertical, was very j interesting, as sometimes two wouti form the letter X, others presenting the appearance of a B, others again representing a line long drawn out. Good humour and Harmony reigned' around, the more spills the more fun, and the rinkists declared they had a real good time. The floor was . in first olass order, and Mr Hillary was very a-tentive and obliging. To judge by the first night we should venture to say that this amusement wil be very popular during the winter months. Tomorrow the rink is again opened ftom 2.30 to 5 p.m, and from 7 to 10 p.m, and season tickets will then be available.
