THE FISK JUBILEE SINGER'S
The Hall on Thursday wgW was filled to hear the justly celebrated Hsk Jubilee Singers. It should be our duty to criticise their performflifc'e', but though it may not be impossible, it is yef tda difficult for us. The entertaiument they provide, is of so entirely a novel character that the ordinary description for concerts fail miserably to describe the pleasure they affod. It is true music sung 'faultlessly, which so gratifies the ear. If it were not for the rich sounds, the performance would be morothan barbarous, it would be exasperating, as the words, excusable for uncultivated slaves, are wretched, and jarring, and would spoil any performance but the one given by the Fisk Singers. The extraordinary sudden changes in the choruses were never heard before, but in the manner they are rendered, pleases, whilst it surprises. The richness of tone resembles nothing so much as the rolling of an organ in the interior of a cathedral. W are not surprised at the name they have obtained or the success they have achieved, they have fairly earnt both.
