ODDS AND ENDS.

Mr Edward Goschen, the younger brother of the Chancellor of the Ex- , chequer, about whom there has been some talk as a possible- successor of Lord Sackville at Washington, is a charming diplomatist^- and is now first Secretary of the Legation at Stockholm. He is one among the many who have married American wives, and those who know him saythat he would probably be a great success at Washington. The step up is, however, rather high, but the appointment is not impossible. Ladies' shooting dresses are becom* ming more natty. I saw the model. of one at Benjamin's, Ulster House, Conduit-street, which b,ad beeu made for the Empress of x^ustria and Mdme Albani. It had a short plaited skirt and a tight plain bodice, and from under the edge of the skirt peeped a pair of leggins, into which knickerbockers of the same material as the dress (brown cloth) were tucked. Mdme Albani is an ardent sportswoman. She fishes and shoots. " In ladies' goods buttoned boots are as popular as ever, though legs are not so high nor are the buttons quite so numerous as in recent seasons. Generally speaking, both ladies and gentleman's samples, especially of best qualities, are plain or with but little embellishment, while lightness is the order of the day all round. If the craze for light foot wear much longer continues, rubber overshoes may be expected to again become fashionable for wet weather. And a very ffOOd thing, too."
