On Tuesday last this important meeting took place, and, as has been almost invariably the case, was favoured with mosS splendid weather, The course was in very good order, and everything went as smoothly as could be desired, no hitch, no protest, no disagreement marring any event. The stewards workad well together, and each one appeared to know his particular duty and attended to it. The judge's position was a sinecure, except in the Flying Handicap, when it appeared probable he would have a difficulty in plaoiag the first and second horses, however, half a head decided the point. The hardest worked official was naturally the honorary secretary, My Russell, but he got through his duties in a most pleasant manner, and all who came in contact with him spoke highly of his courteousness. The starter,- Mr Davidson, was not so successful as he generally has been, and one or two starts were very unsatisfactory, but that is no reason why the splendid start he secured, after a long delay in making the jockeys mind him, for the Flying Handicap should not be creditedhim. The clerk of the course, Mr Keys, carried out his duties in a careful, yet good-natuied manner, The President of the Club was unavoidably absent, but was well represented by Mrs M Lennan and family, and the vice-President did his best to fill the vacancy. The attendance was very good, there being more people than we have seen for the past three or four years, and must have numbered between 1400 and 1500. The train from Wanganui brought visitors from all down the line, but chiefly from Feilding and Pahnerston. The business done at the gates and booths was very satisfactory to the purchasersMessrs Hill and Poo'e worked the tota'isator for the Club, and put through £2526. The following are the rt suits :-—
