By King Cole. Once again we are on the eve of the Foxton Racing Club's annual meeting, which p> omises to be a very successful gathering, as we shall have horses representing both Wairarapa and Hawke'sßay to do battle with our West Coast nags. For the Hurdle Race five have cried content, the same number that accepted for this race last year. Q-ermaine, the top weight, is a doubtful starter, but if she goes to the post I do not think anything will trouble her. Maribyrnong with 10 4, on past performances, holds all the rest safe. If Germaine does not start I shall place them Maribyrnong Ruapehu Rata i The F.R.O. Handicap is a very open race. The Spy, on performances, should win; but will the ground please him, I hardly think so. If it does it is all over "bar the shouting." Germaine comes next with Bst, a weight she is master of in the sand if the pace is not too hot for the first mile. She has always run very consistently on the Foxton course, and I should not be a bit surprised if she does not repeat her performance of last year. The Laird is a stranger to this Coast, and from all accounts is not to be despised. He bas run and won some good races in Hawke's Bay, and must be pretty well or he would not come. Ahua, with the light impost of 7.2, should make it very interesting at the finish. His running in the Rangitikei Handicap stamps him a racehorse. Expelled I cannot stand over a mile and three-quarters. Camomile and Ruapehu are both pitchforked into it, but neither of them has shown us of late that they can get the distance at a racing pace. My selections are Germaine Ahua The Spy in the order named. For the Stewards Stakes the same horses, with the exception of Germaine, have accepted. The only doubtful starter is, I think, Camomile, who will be most likely saved for the Flying. For choice I prefer The Laird The Spy Expelled in that order. The Flying should be a good race between two, Rufus and Camomile, and I shall go straight for Camomile Rutus Pandora
