Wirokino Road Board.

The following tenders were accepted at last meeting of tho aboveBoard: — Kingston Road No 2, W. J. Bottiug, £86 10s ; Kingston Eoad No 1, J. H. Anderson, £187 17s; Karere Road, James Bowie, £76 12s; Paiaka Road, James Bowie, L4B 18s ; Shannon Road, J. k'. Hay. About eighteen contractoi's tendered for the works.

Mr J. Davies was in Palmerston to -day in connection with the matter of inviting tenders for a number of other contracts, eight or nine of which are expected to be ready for advertising in the course of a waek or so. The Board intond losing no time in getting the works put in hand while the fine weather lasts, and Mr Scott has been instructed to use every despatch in the preparation of plans. The Horowhenua County loan of £6000 has also been granted, and thus a to tal ot £12,000 will be spent onjroad works in the Wirokino Road District during the next two years. From tho list of tenders above it will be seen that Polmerston and Shannon contractors are securing their share. — Manawatu Times.
