*_ . (reuteb's telegrams). London, June 28. In the House of Commons today, the Right Hon. M. G. Grant-Duff, Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, in reply to a question, promised that Government would take into consideration the question of taking steps to bring about an agreement between the Powers in order to counteract kidnapping and slavery in the Pacific. Communications having been made to the British Government by the Boers who remained loyal during the recent war, asking for some compensation in consequence of the withdrawal of British rule from the Transvaal, the Bight Hon. W. E. Gladstone has addressed a letter in reply, in which he states that the Government does not consider petitioners are entitled to any indemification under the circumstances named. Great excitement prevails throughout the country in consequence of the riots which occurred at Marseilles on the 17th and 18th instant, and the numerous arrests of Italian subjects that have since been mada by order of the French Government. AntiFrench meetings are being held in several towns to express indignation with the action of the French. r .
