London, May 24. At wool sale today. 9100 bales were offered. The tone of trading was strong. News has been received from Canada that a terrible accident occurred near London-on-the*Thames, in pro* vince of Ontario. An excursion steamer, with several hundred per* sons on board, eapsized,and one bun* dred and seventy five perished. / Melbourne, Thursday. Arrived — Union Co's steamer Rotanahana, from Bluff. No progress is being made with the consideration of the Reform Bill in Legislative Assembly, and the Legislative Council meanwhile are delaying passage of Land Tax Bill. The latter Chamber now stands ad* jouraed to 31st May. Adelaide, Thursday. The agricultural statistics of South Anstralia published today show that the area under cultivation is>l<,734 t o^o acres, being an increase of 275,000 acres compared with last year. The yield during last season has been 8,606,000 bushels, being a decrease of 5,640,000 compared with season of 1880. This year's average has been 4 bushels 58 pounds per acre, against 9 ' bushels 41 pounds last year.
