RAINFALL AT FOXTON.

The following statistics, received from a gentleman who takes an interest in meteorological matters, will be read with interest : — The total rainfall at Foxton for the year 1880 was 36.22 inches. The average fall per annum for the seven previous years was 3862 inches. During the month of January rain fell on 6 days, the total rainfall being 2.32 inches, the average rainfall for the same month during the last sc/en years being 1.94 inches. During the month of February rain fell on 7 days, the total fall being 1.10 inches, and 'the seven years' average for the same month was 1.92 inches. During the month of March rain fell on G days, the fall being 0.98, and the last seven years average for the same month being 2.20. From the beginning of April to the 25th the rainfall has been only 0.6 J. The drought has continued with very little rain at intervals since January 20, as no rain fell in that month after the 19th, so that for 95 days, from January 19 to April 24, the total rainfall has been only 2.69, or slightly under two and three-quar-ter inches. Generally tho first four months of Vf^je year are the driest at Foxton, but thisj year is drier than usual.
