ijinc« last mooting I have been unusually busy in preparing plans and specifications for new works, as ordered by this Couucil on February 21. KIWITEA. HIDING. Nothing lias been done in this Biding except repairs to roads. >UXCIIEBTER RIDINO. I have had tho work of approach to Stoney Creek School carried out. The handrails to bridges on Makino road a« finished, but not in time for payment Oils month. The roadß generally are in very pool order. I have ha.l the roadmen engaged in straightening and widening the roart between Feilding and Awnhuri. TAONUI HIRING Roads are in good state of repair. At the wbole of the bridges on tho Rangltikei lino I have n«d fencing erected as wings to the handrails, which make the bridges much safer. I have prepared plani and culled for tenders for the additions to Kawau Hriilirc. I find that 40 feet piles are required at this bridge, as tho ground is very soft. Or.ODA ItIDIN'O. Iloiuls generally throuuhout this riding are In very good order. Mp*sra Nathnn and Diraond Bros, are pushing on with their contracts. Montelth is also at work on Penny's linn, having cleared nearly the whole of the scrnb off the whole length of Ills contract. AWAIIOO KID; KG. 1 have prepared plans and apeclticat'ons for the several works in this riding. lam sony to say there has been some delay in the erection of the Awa'.iou Bridge, but I believe it will now be pushed on speedily. I have not called for tenders for work around racecourse, as after examining the road line I found fences wcro erected across said road line. I therefore consulted with councillor BockBtrow, vrho agreed with me that it would be better to wnit till the railway was .shifted, and get power to use the old railway formation as a road. BRIDGES AND FERRIES. When I have -visited them they have been in good working order. By the Chairman's instructions, together with Messrs Harvey and Falloon, I took a valuation of the property at the Lower Gorge Perry bnlonging to the Manawatu County Council. The said valuation I sent on to Mr Qoodbehere on Saturday last The valuation of Foxton ferry property I propose to make tomorrow.
