Going round the second time, Rin ,i atira refused the fourth hurdle, ami thus lost her chance of the race. Mustany then came up with a rush, and passed Eclipse, and the race waa then considered to be the former's, but unfortunately he fell at tho sixth hurdle, and Eclipse consequently came in an easy winner. Rangatira had in the meantime taken her jump and passed Mustang, thus securing second place. Unfortunately, an accident hapuened during this race. When Mustang fell, his rider (M'Elwain) was rather badly hurt, his collar bone being broken. H was, however, promptly attended to, and it is hoped no serious results will accrue.
