London, November 19. The state of affairs in Ireland h»s not improved. The urgent need for a thorough reform ofthe Irish lar.d tenure laws is not disputed, even by tho chief Irish landlords, many of whom have written to the papers showing the necessity of legislation. A soc.ety is being 'formed, the committee of which is drawing up the heads of a mew Sure which they think equitable. The Standard and Daily News are publishing a series of letters fron the disturbed districts in lieland, which produce a great impression. The three great principles which the moderate Irish politicians desire to be made, and the English Liberals concede, are ~ fixity of tenure, free sale, and fair rent* Ibe damage done by earthquake at Agram is estimated at three million florins. Fearful havoc has been wrought in the city snd surrounding districts, and many families are homeless. The Mayor of London has opened a subscription for ihe relief of the sufferers. Mr Norton, who was shot by a woman at Dubbo last montb, is 'dead . The post mortem, examination showed that the bullet had become embedded in tho brain and had caused an abscess.
