Cok-mmi, creditor's trustee in the estate of Johu Harms, asking what, amount was duo to that estate from the Council. The Clerk reported the sum of ?>s id was duo from the Council to Harms. Letter road from Bryant >fc Co., asking for extension of time for their Kiwitea contract. The application was recommended by tho Engineer. No resolution was passed upon the subject. L3tter read from Waddell & Co., of Wellington, giving price list of pipes, \c Letter read from Di-tr jot Court, announcing the b.nkruptcy of Joseph Ysonteith, of Carnarvon, a debtor to the t ouncil for r^-tes. Letter lvad from the Public Works office, sta ing that tho application for Mr M. Carkcek to survey a portion of the FoxtonOtnki sea beat-.h road hud been referred to the Native Minister. Loiter read from the Native Office, enclosing certain information asked for by the Council regarding the blocks of land fronting the Foxton-Otaki inland road. The Chairman said lie had been spoken to by Mr Whisker on this matter, and had promised to look into it. He thought there was no obligation on the Council to prosecute persons who slaughtered without licenses. Mr ltockstrow b'lid Jw liad seen Mr M'Donald, who told him hu had arranged a meeting of the natives, on the idea that the Council met on the 6th December. Ho had told him of the present meeting of the Council, and Mr M'Donald expected that before the Council held its uext meeting everything would be orranged witb (ho natives. SIGNING CHE<it'Eß. Th'c Cfia'innan reported thßt Messrs Lin - ton, Bockstrow, and himself had interviewed^ the Minister of Public Works regarjli«g tiie railway rates on timber. They had put the matter forcibly before him, and had reason to believe successfully, as timber for export had been lowered 3d per hundred feet. The question of the cost of hauling gravel they had quite forgotten. Before going to the Minister, however, he had seeu a Gazette notice stating a certain reduction had beeu made. He thought at the tune the reduction was greater than, it proved, to^.be. Since his return, however, ho had written to the Minister, urging that the rate* for gravel should be reduced, and had received a reply statiug that the matter would be carefully consideved, and that in fact Che whole railway tariff would shortly be revised. ACCOUNTS. The accounts presented for payment were passed, and the Council rose at 1 p.m.
