EVENING SITTING.
The Council mot at 7 p.m , when all the members were present, Mr U 'Donald and Mr T. U. Cook addressed the Counoil regarding the Foxton and Beach road. The Chairman then read the whole of the objection:) to the inland Foxton-Otnki t road, after which Mr Kebbell moved, " Thnt Ihe Council having heard and considered the objections to the inland road from Foxton to Otalu, are of opinion that it is expuI dient that the proposed work should be [ executed, and that no private injury will be done thereby, for which due compensation is not provided by tue Public Works Ad, 187(5, Part 111., and that replies to this effect be sent to the parties sending the objections." Seconded by Mr Douglas, and carried. ACCOUNTS. flic accounts were then considered and passed for payment. SAND"N POUND. Mr Sanson referred fco the public incon* venience caused by there being no poundkeeper at Sanson, and moved, "That Mr P. Gaughran be appointed pouadkeeper at Sunson, and that the Chairman take the i necossary steps to have him gazetted with I the best possible delay." Seconded by Mr Gray, and carried. IN COMMITTEE. The Council then went into Committee re the Engineer question, and a long din- ! cussion ensued, ... Eventually the following motion was passed : — " That it is imperative that an Engineer be appointed for the Munawatu County, and that £350 be offered for bis whole time." MISCELLANEOUS. The Council resolved to ask that the police might be allowed to act as slaughter inspectors. Only 2£ per cent will in future be allowed the Rate Collector, who i 9 to collect the dog tax, receiving 20 percent for collection Proposed by Mr Sanson, seconded by Mr Giay, ''That the Engineer piepare plans trad specifications for forming the Foxton and Saudon road, and call for tenders for same; tenders to bo in by next meeting," Carried.
