MR. STEWART IN EXPLANATION.
TO THE EDITOB OF THIS MAITAWATU HKRAM). Bir,— -Would you please insert the following extract from the Wanganui Herald of Ist July, in explanation of part of tho report which appeared in your issue of Friday last of proceedings of Education Hoard. I may add I have every confidence in Mr. Hulke as teacher of our sohool, and and hope he may long continue to be so. — John T. Btewabt. Foxten, 6th July, 1880. [Extraot above referred to.] Mr. Stewart, a member of the Foxton Sohool Committee, writes to us as follows : "Your issue of 30th reports Mr. Hulke as saying that ' Mr. Stewart was equally dia< gusted' with himself at Foxt-.u School examination. This is erroneous. I heard the geography examination, nud with exc«p tion of the ' White Sea ' question so often referred to, I consider the Inspector's geography questions perfectly fair And inteUigible, and wan surprised at the children answering so bodly when on other occasions they teemed well op in this branch."— Waagaatu Herald, Ist July.
