LATEST.

A party who came down the river yesterday afternoon have given us latest particulars of the flood. They state that they came over the country in a canoe, passing over gorse hedges, fences, &c, without the least trouble. Some of tho party were at work splitting shingles, &c, but the flood came on them on Saturday night, and they got on to the table and disposed themselves in other elevated positions during the night

Next morning some Maoris rescued them in a canoe. The place where / the men, were camped has at present j over 6 feet of water on it. TheMontoa , and Poutou natives are all acrosstk?.. river, on the high land, and have taken all their stock they could reach with them. They will, however, lose a good deal. As we expected, a number of the stock on Messrs. Brown and George's ran are drowned. Mr Frank Cook has escaped without any loss to his stock. The river was very high yesterday, being right up-., to the old mill at Paiaka. The river has taken a turn near Parker's house, and now runs in front instead of behind it, the house being left on an island. Mr Wm. Barnett, of Artiki, has sustained no loss of stock.
