SUPREME COURT.
At the Wanganui Supreme Court sittings, on Monday last, John Brett, charged with forging and uttering a certain agreement purporting to be signed by J. T. Stewart, pleaded guilty. The Crown Proseoutor said that the prisoner had already served a sentence of four months' imprisonment for procuring the goods mentioned from the prosecutor, lie had been sentenced in the R.M. Court under the Vagrant Act, 1866. He was sentenced to one day's imprison ment, with hard labour. Edward Price, for reoeiving a gold watch and ohain. valued at £14, belonging to Mrs Futter, of the Manawatu Hotel, knowing it to be stolen, and for stealing a horse belonging to Tero Harinona, which horse he sold to Mr O. Honoie, of Foxton, was sen* teneed to four yearn' imprisonment on eaoh charge, the sentences to be concurrent. Louisa Grantham and Henry Aslat, charged with attempted suicide, both pleadod guilty, und were bound over to appear for judgment when called upon. Tawa Hokaia, charged with stealing a horse at Oroua Bridge, was found not guilty, and discharged. Stephen Henry Hudson pleaded guilty to having stolen £71 from the residence of Constable Price, at Feilding, and received a sentence of 9 months' imprisonment. Arthur Cook, oharged with stealing from the shop of R. GK Palmer, pleaded guilty, and bis father entered into a bond for his son's appearance when called on for judgment. In the case of Ben j an. in Pepper, charged with receiving the cheque alleged to have been stolen by Baoholor the Crown Prosecutor entered a nolle prosequi, as the Q rand Jury had thrown oat the bill against Bachelor, Prisoner vm discharged.
