THE RAILWAY PETITION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU HERALD. E>ir — I sco that a movement is being . 1 made to induce the Government to start the railway at Foxton end. To this we* cordially agree, and after having won our railway vote, and scored a vjgtory in the late election, we are just a little bounceable, and will sign 20 petitions right off the reel, if you will only send them along. Poor human nature, alas ! how soon cast down again ! We feel sad to see the swaggers coming along, and they are now enquiring for work in good earnest. As a country* man, I feel for the poor fellows, and we will go all the way with you in 'praying the Government to give them work at ouce on this end of the West Coast railway. This is our philanthropic mode — real brotherly . kindness. The plans are ready — we are ready— tho swaggers are ready — cive the poor fellows work at once. I am, &c, CoUKTAYMAX. Sandon, Septamber 27, 1879.
