A VOICE FROM OTAKI.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATU HERAI.D S in— "South Manawatu" is labouring binder a wrong idea when he states that there were only a few benighted I'akehas who voted for Halcombe. I say that the majority of the Pakeha residents voted for biin, and as' for the Maori votes they were about equally divided. I for one am not sorry that 1 voted for the Northern man. I am, &c, A Halcojibeite. Ofcaki, September 13, 1879.
