THE MANAWATU ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOIt OP IHE MANAWATU HERALD. Sib — It will douptless be remarked on, that Otaki is the only district in South Manawatu in which Mr Jihnston did not virtually receive a block vote! at the recent election. Now in justice to tie settlers of this district I would point oui tkat they were fully alive to the necessity of placing Mi Halecmbe as low as possible at the poll; but unfot.,u nately their laudable efforts towards that desirable object were counterbalanced by the Maori Electors, and a fow benighted pakehas, who are constantly having the melancholy pleasure of discovering, when too late, that they have been working against their own interests and their neighbours' . Ijftm,;&c., v South Manawatu. Ottaki, Sept. 9th.
