AN ENQUIRY.

» TO THE EDITOR OV THE JIANAWATTT HERALD. Sir — Will you explain to me the reason that people owning no land, should be liable to Land and County Taxes, and have no redress If the Board are willing to give up the Crown Grant the petitioner is willing to pay all costs. I am <fee, A Poor Man. Moutoa, 1 8th July. [Our correspondent is in error. Every time the valuation list is drawn up, both for the Highways Board rate or any other tax, the public have an opportunity of objecting- He should have examined these lists, and if he found he was rated for property that does not belong to him, an objection should have been lodged. This would have been heard by the Court, and if the objection had been sustained, he would not have been rated for the land. — Kb. M. Herald.]
