♦ (PER PEEBB AGENCY.) New Plymouth, Thursday, 7 p.m. There are only about 250 fighting men at Paiihaka. There are no .signs of any defences. Parihaka occupies a very defenceless position, being commanded by volcanic hills all round. Te "Whiti still says only evil men fight. He is not a man of war. Wellington, Thursday, 7 p.m. Half a dozen persons were brought before the R.M. this morning, for stealing small articles at the late fire. Some were respectable-looking men, but in each case a sentence of a fortnight to a month's hard labor was given. The Kinross case was again adjourned to day. James Mackay, -who acted for Government in the disturbed districts, is now representing them at Parihaka.
