The Committee of the Foxton School acted quite rightly, we think, in deciding on the letter sent to the schoolmaster by Mr J. A. Perreau, in the manner they did. We have printed (he letters in another column, so that ratepayers who have children at school may read the s'aements therein contained, and judge tor themselves, when we venture to think they will support the Committee's action. The Chairman pointed out to the Committee that perhaps it would be better to arrange a meeting and hear the charges, but as some of the members remarked, there was no telling where such a state of affairs would stop. It wonld be very absurd if, because an individual cnose to make random charges against a master, who referred the matter on to the Committee, that body were to straightway hold a meeting, and investigate the charges. Yet that is about what it means. We think in this case Mr Perreau has endeavored to be a little sarcastic, and reckoned without his host, as by the straightforward conduct of Mr Hulke, he (Mr Perreau) had the opportunity of proving his charges, if he had the grounds, and felt bo inclined. No doubt if Mr Perreau had made his charges to the Coru« mittee, instead of the master, an investigation would have been neoessary, but as that gentleman has not thought fit to answer Mr Hulke 1 s letter, it may be taken for granted that he is not prepared to go on with che matter.
